Dear Jake,
I’m so grateful to have come across your blog. I admire your choice to include your children and your wife in this personal journey in addition to the rest of the world; it’s only through sharing that we heal ourselves and others, as I believe we’re all connected.
I lost my spouse suddenly in 2009. We were at a cottage we rented every summer near the ocean. He was 49 years old, a runner and gifted athlete. We had just finished sharing a cup of coffee together on the deck watching the sailboats when he decided he would go for his morning run. When he returned 30 min. later, I heard a loud thud in the kitchen….I administered CPR, until help arrived 20 min. later, but I already knew he was gone.
